    Encore is held at the Speakeasy, in the heart of downtown Austin.


    This three-level venue will feature:

    1st Floor | Main showroom; back lounge room with pool table, couches, and full bar

    2nd Floor | Mezzanine overlooking the 1st floor; full bar

    3rd Floor | Rooftop with two DJs spinnin' afro-beats, reggae, house, R&B, and real hip-hop;
    full bar; and a gorgeous view of the city

    AAULYP (or known as YP] are professionals committed to helping make Austin a better city through diversity and urban culture. The purpose and mission of the Urban League and the Young Professionals in particular is to provide young people with resources that encourage networking and interaction with social, cultural, educational and political institutions and to help cultivate innovative ideas and dynamic dialogue in Austin. YP and Encore ATX are conducting a back-to-school drive and collecting school supplies to give to local school districts in need. Please bring supplies to donate at the Sept 3rd Encore show. (Pens, pencils, loose leaf paper, single notebooks, calculators, ect.)

    Sept 3rd Showcase Lineup

    Courtney Santana

    Dynamic Songtress

    Courtney Santana has been in music, live music theater, and dance for over 30 years. She has been a featured vocalist and background vocalist on over 15 albums and she has performed with and alongside Brannen Temple, Guy Forsyth, Patrice Pike, Strings Attached, Malford Milligan, Matt Wilson, Nakia, Chanel Haynes, and more. She has also opened for national acts like Kirk Whalum, Kyle Turner, Salt N Pepa, and Musiq Soulchild. In 2017 she will release her single Survive and a full length album in Spring of 2018. She has been nominated by the Austin Chronicle for best cover band for 3 times.

    As a member of Austin’s theater community, she has performed in some of Austin’s most loved musical performances including Dreamgirls, Fame, Porgy & Bess, and RENT.


    In May of 2012, she was honored to be the cover of Austin Women’s Magazine for her work as a vocalist and an advocate of domestic violence and in 2017, she received a proclamation from Mayor Steve Adler, proclaiming March 3 is Courtney Santana Day in Austin Texas.

    Aaron Spivey-Sorrels

    Actor / Comedian

    Aaron Spivey-Sorrells is one the up and coming actors in the Texas area. Aaron has found national to international success with numerous television shows like Friday Night Lights, American Crime, Revolution, the leftovers, Dallas, and Dusk till Dawn. Aaron has also been on the big screen with movies like Lazer Team and JOE where he co starred along side of Nicolas Cage.


    Aaron commercial success is fantastic. just to name a few brand names as Nike, Dick Sporting Goods, Chevy, Chuk E cheese, Capital one, texas and florida lottery.


    These achievements open up major doors for Aaron's 8 years of Stand up comedy. Aaron Has performed at notable college and universities. such as Texas University, Trinity Valley Jr College, and Huston-Tillitson University. Aaron was the national step show host for Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity inc 2013 convention which had over 3,000 people in attendance.


    With all of Aaron achievements and credits Aaron remains humbled and loved by his family. Without his His 3 daughters and son and his wife, Aaron wouldn't be half the man he is today.

    DJ Donte

    Your Favorite DJ

    UT graduate and member Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, Donte is a veteran on the tables. He is a maestro on the 1's and 2's, keeping the party jumping and maintaining the right vibe at all times.

    Andre Taylor

    Austin's Soul Vocalist

    Andre Taylor has been blazing mics all around Central Texas. With his beginnings as Gospel singer, Andre brings a heartfelt and electric performance when he hits the stage.


    He is the lead singer of the Distinguished Soundz Band. Currently Andre is Touring with Letoya Luckett as lead background vocalist.

    DJ Kay Cali

    DJ and Host of the monthly hit event, Groove Theory

    One of the top DJ's in Austin nightlife, Kay Cali has brought her own sound to the scene. Spinning R&B, old and new school hip-hop, house, and more. She has been influenced by her West coast upbringing, but also has an East coast flare.

    Christopher Michael

    National Slam Champion Poet

    Christopher Michael (www.mrmichael310.com) has been a regular in The Texas Poetry Slam scene since 1999. CM is co-founder Killeen Poetry Slam, host at Austin Poetry Slam, 2005-2006 Austin Slam Champ, 2008 Killeen Slam Champ, 2010 Arkansas Grand Slam, 5x national finalist, member and coach of 13 National Slam Teams as well as coached 4 Youth Poetry Slam Teams. He is the former Executive Director and Slam Master of They Speak Youth Slam in Austin Tx. Serves as a board member for Austin Poetry Slam the Vice President of Poetry Slam Inc. and Slammaster of Austin Neo Soul.

    Tree G

    The Romance of Austin

    Tree G Music is an electric vocal Powerhouse sure to command any stage she graces. Her Musical and Poetic gifts have allowed her to open up for National artists such as Ledisi, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Keith Sweat, Mario and Nikki Giovanni. She is an Entertainer, an Activist and the Romance of Austin giving music lovers permission to love themselves and treat others with compassion. Tree G is the Co-host and Resident Singer at Encore.

    April Neal

    Spoken Word Artist

    April Neal is a spoken word poet from Waco,Texas. Currently she is: taking her dear time in obtaining her degree and pursing passions: writing, thrifting, stopping to admire a nice beard, and being a super aunt. Every day she is challenging herself to step more outside of her boxes and to love better. April has attended, Baylor University and is currently studying at Texas Woman’s University.

    Brandon Thornton

    National SpokenWord Arist/Host-Creator of Encore ATX

    Brandon Thornton has been writing and performing poetry since 2007. He started on the open mic scene in St. Louis, MO and quickly began taking his talents on the road to become a nationally renowned spoken word artist. His high energy stage performances are know for completely engaging the crowd and taking them on a poetical journey. Brandon has performed in 30 States, at over 100 colleges and universities, and has produced 4 poetry Cds and a Dvd. He recently release his first book entitled Male-Nourished: Food for Thought from a Man's Perspective, a collection of eclectic writings that are sure to inspire emotion, critical thought, and the occasional laughter. Brandon is the visionary behind Encore, a live music and poetry event that attracts 400+ in attendance. Encore also promotes and facilitates Upscale Urban events in the Austin Metro area. Aside from his passion for poetry, he recently earned his M.S. in Mathematics and is a Full-Time Mathematics Professor.
